HYSLOP WELCOMES REINSTATED X14 BUS TO WHITBURN
SNP MSP, Fiona Hyslop’s campaign to reinstate the X14 First Bus Service from Whitburn to Glasgow has been successful and will return to its original route on Monday, December 5th 2011.
Fiona Hyslop met with First Bus Group’s Regional Manager, Mr Paul Thomas, wrote letters to his office and sent him a copy of her petition against the withdrawal of service X14; a petition which contained over a hundred local signatures. First Bus contacted Ms Hyslop this week to announce plans to reinstate the route.
Ms Hyslop has commented;
“I am delighted with the announcement to reinstate the X14 bus service. This service was a vital link to Glasgow for many of the city’s ex-residents who now live in Whitburn and I am sure they will be extremely pleased with this decision.
“Initially, there were discussions that the X15 from Livingston to Glasgow might make a stop in Whitburn before continuing on the M8, so to have the old X14 bus back on its original route is the best news we could have hoped for.
“There are many people across Whitburn and beyond who have used this service when travelling to Glasgow and I hope that this will continue once the bus service has been reinstated so as not to fall victim to being cancelled at any point in the future.”

Fiona said;
“I am delighted with this major announcement of 250 new jobs in my constituency and that 1000 employees already working in the Halls have secured their jobs. In the current economic climate this is welcome news.
“I am particularly pleased that 100 of these new jobs will be Modern Apprenticeships which will provide great job training opportunities for the young people of West Lothian.
“It is clear that the SNP Government is standing by its commitment of putting jobs at the forefront of their agenda.”
HYSLOP ISSUES PHONE SCAM WARNING
After receiving complaints from constituents, Local MSP Fiona Hyslop has issued a warning that people in West Lothian may be falling victim to a phone scam.
Callers pretend to be from a computer company and claim to need to fix the computer in your home. They then direct you to a website where they can gain remote access of your computer, gaining further access to your bank details and personal records.
Ms Hyslop said;
“I would like to draw attention to this phone scam that appears to be targeting West Lothian.
“I am in the process of writing to local pensioners groups and having notices displayed in public places so that all my constituents are aware of this scam.
“You should never allow anyone you do not know or trust access to your computer or anything else that may contain sensitive information. I would advise people who are receiving similar phone calls to hang up the phone as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
HYSLOP WELCOMES SINGLE POLICE FORCE PROPOSAL
SNP MSP for Linlithgow Fiona Hyslop has welcomed the Justice Secretary’s statement to the Scottish Parliament to create a single police and single fire and emergency force to safeguard the vital front line services.
Commenting, Ms Hyslop said;
“I believe that a single police force will enhance police services in West Lothian and will ensure these vital front line services are fit for the future. In effect it would give more centralised, operational power on policing to the individual communities for “F” Division covering West Lothian rather than having to defer to Lothian and Borders.
“This new system will also allow every councillor the ability to play a role in holding the police to account, giving every community direct contact with senior officers in West Lothian.
“Crime is currently at a 35 year low and with so many extra local police officers patrolling our streets, a new single police force and fire service can only further deliver safe and strong communities right across West Lothian.
