Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, Fiona Hyslop, has welcomed new figures showing the success of the Scottish Government’s Carer Support Payment, with more than £3 million paid out in West Lothian.
The Carer Support Payment replaces Carer’s Allowance and has been vital in supporting carers across Scotland since it was piloted in November 2023.
Commenting Fiona said:
“Ensuring that Carers across West Lothian receive the care they need is a key priority of the Scottish Government and I am pleased to see over £3 million has been paid out to Carers across the county since the introduction of the Carer Support Payment.
“This payment is a lifeline for people across West Lothian who care for loved ones every day.
“Carers make an incredible contribution to their community, and I am pleased to see the Scottish Government prioritising providing this essential support.”
