LOCAL MSP CALLS ON VION TO HELP RECOVERY PLANS

Commenting on the situation at Hall’s of Broxburn, following Vion’s decision to close the plant, local MSP Fiona Hyslop is calling on the departing company to face up to their responsibilities and contribute to the recovery.

Addressing SNP Conference, Ms Hyslop said:

“Vion must face up to their responsibilities and put their hand in their pockets to aid the community they are leaving behind.

“Vion have benefited tremendously from the skilled and committed workforce at Hall’s. Now they must support that same workforce and help fund the recovery plan.

“The workforce and their families can and will bounce back – the people of West Lothian are no strangers to overcoming adversity.

“In West Lothian we do now talk about Bathgate ONCE more, rather than Bathgate no more, we need to give that hope and that belief to the workforce that they will have a future in West Lothian, a great place; near to both motorways and the new Forth crossing – we will be a location of choice for investment.”
