MSP praise for Newton Community Council saving iconic views of Forth
Linlithgow MSP Fiona Hyslop has praised the swift action of Newton Community Council for drawing a problem with the newly installed power lines through Newton towards South Queensferry to the attention of her and Scottish Power. The lines and poles would have seen one of the best views of the Forth and the three bridges from the layby of the A904 interrupted by wooden poles and electricity wires.
Commenting Fiona Hyslop MSP said “when Newton Community Council contacted me I immediately contact Scottish Power and then spoke with senior management of Scottish Power last Wednesday. Scottish Power told me that they shared the concern, apologised for the oversight and were positive they would be able to underground that section to ensure these iconic views remain uninterrupted. I was happy to relay that to Newton Community Council who were due to meet Scottish Power late last week.”
She added “Scottish Power confirmed that they are also going to review their processes to establish why Newton Community Council had not been communicated with properly in the first place having mistakenly approached Queensferry Community Council instead.”
She continued “we are all rightly proud that we have three bridges built in three different centuries spanning the Forth and the view from the layby is quite fantastic. I’d like to thank Newton Community Council for their diligence and swift action in helping to save the view for everybody.”
