West Lothian MSPs Welcome Recovery Plan but Urge Vion to Dig Deep

Local West Lothian MSPs Fiona Hyslop (Linlithgow) and Angela Constance (Almond Valley) have welcomed the Scottish Government’s announcement of a Recovery Plan for Vion Halls employees in Broxburn but have repeated their comments that Vion MUST contribute to local support for their staff.

Fiona Hyslop commented;

“This is a good announcement for West Lothian and it is clear that the Scottish Government has worked hard to deliver a package of almost £12 million over five years to invest in the West Lothian workforce. The commitment from the Government agencies to support the expansion of growing companies is welcome.

“Vion still need to face up to their responsibilities like Diageo’s in Kilmarnock who are helping those made redundant find work by putting their hands in their own pockets to help the economy and the staff they are letting go.”

Angela Constance added;

“The recovery plan demonstrates that the Scottish Government and its partners are pulling together for the benefit of the wider West Lothian community.

“Now it is for Vion to demonstrate that they are part of the solution and not just the problem. They also have a moral responsibility to their dedicated workforce so they need to put their hands in the pockets and make a contribution to economic recovery in West Lothian”
