Fiona Hyslop Welcomes Scottish Government Housing Commitments
Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, Fiona Hyslop, has welcomed the Scottish Government’s 2026-27 Scottish Budget which commits to invest £4.9 billion over the next four years to tackle the housing emergency.
The 2025-26 Budget delivers £926 million allocated to the Affordable Housing Supply Programme – a £158 million boost as part of the 2026-27 Budget, compared to last year’s published budget. The budget settlement builds on commitments made in the Scottish Government’s Housing Emergency Action Plan and also includes at least a further £1.3 million invested through the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership to bring empty homes back into use.
Fiona commented,
“I am pleased to welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment today to invest £4.9 billion over the next four years to tackle the housing emergency.
“Housing is one of the biggest issues I deal with as an MSP and with the population in West Lothian rising each year, it is vital that local families have access to warm, safe affordable homes.
“We also know that it takes time and resources to bring unsuitable empty properties up to the appropriate standards for people to live in. The further £1.3million investment through the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership will go some way to addressing these issues providing more housing opportunities for those needing it most.”
