Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, Fiona Hyslop, has lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating Elizabeth Park on being elected as the first female to the post of Provost of the Court of the Deacons of the Ancient and Royal Burgh of Linlithgow. The Court is an organisation within Linlithgow that’s prime function is to finance, organise and manage the Riding of the Marches in the town of Linlithgow which dates back to the 1200s. Elizabeth Park has served on the Deacons Court for over 25 years and has took on several roles within the organisation before being elected as Provost. Hyslop Signs Age Scotland Pledge

  Fiona Hyslop, SNP Member of the Scottish Parliament for Lothians has signed Age Scotland’s pledge to champion the needs of older people in Scotland. Scotland’s population faces unprecedented aging due to a declining birth rate and the retirement of “baby boomers.”  It is estimated that that within 20 years there will be 1.31 million people at or above the State Pension Age, an increase of 35% on the current number. As such Fiona Hyslop has pledged to tackle ageism throughout our society and to ensure that everyone is treated equally regardless of their age.
